Welcome to the Articles & Columns section of ARG! This will be the place where opinions and highlights on Online Reality Games (ORGs) are encouraged and in the spotlight! There are a few rules and procedures that must be followed in order to keep this forum organized and professional. Don't worry, there will be threads for talking, but for the most part, this is where debate is welcomed!
RULES
1. This forum will be mostly moderated by me. If there are any questions, concerns, complaints, and praise, please contact me via IM or PM. If I am not available and it's something general, contacting other staff members is perfectly fine. If it's a forum specific concern, please PM it to me and I will get into contact with you ASAP.
2. No one may create threads in the forum! If you have something you want to voice, either submit an article or column request (explained below), post in the Ideas thread, or post in the Gamers' Lounge or Fight Club, wherever appropriate. This is mainly for organization and staying on topic, as this isn't the general forum to say whatever on.
3. Though debating and having opinions is what this forum is all about, I request that everyone please treat other posters with respect! No matter how much you disagree, there will be NO disrespectful behavior in this forum, which includes (but not limited to) namecalling and bashing! Though posters can be passionate about their topics, there is no need to get personal and resort to lashing out with mean words instead of retorting with a well thought-out debate. Basically, keep everything friendly and professional, but don't feel like you need to hold back like in the other forums.
PROCEDURES
ARTICLES & COLUMNS
This forum is made for housing articles and columns relating to ORGs to spark discussion and help keep the community informed of the latest happenings of gaming online.
What exactly can I write an article on?
The articles that will be posted here will be just like something you would find in a magazine. Host spotlights, Pros and Cons of two rival production companies, what makes a Survivor game so good, how Big Brother: 2 was the best one, who do you think are the top 100 players of recent ORG history (yes, that means Lists are considered Articles and will be posted here!)? It's a one shot to bring the community's attention to a certain topic and discussing it.
How about columns?
The only difference between columns and articles is that columns are a series of related articles! They can be on anything related to ORGs, as long as it has a running theme. It needs to me more catchy then the typical article to keep it interesting. Want to do player interviews, strategy dissects of the contestants through-out Survivor, or update ARG on the insanity of different mini games? Then writing a column is for you!
I have written an article/column, what now?
Simply PM it to me! If it's too big or a PM or you want to play safe, you can find me on AIM and send it to me that way. Please note what I am looking for in submissions when deciding to post them:
1. The first thing that I will notice will be proper grammer and spelling. PLEASE spell/grammer check your submission, if I have a hard time reading it, I'm not going to be as keen on approving it. If there's a few mistakes I won't crucify you, but for the most part, it needs to be well written!
2. Is it interesting? Is the the topic original or an oldie but a goodie? I will be looking for interesting topics! I would love to post unique articles or ones that I can't stop laughing at. Give this community something to talk about! Remember, it needs to be ORG related, nothing general.
3. For columns, I will be extra critical about reliability! Along with your first column, I would like to know what you are doing a column or two in the future. If you let me down about a column before or have been causing trouble in this forum, I will be less likely to approve your column.
DISCUSSIONS
I would like to have a healthy discussion at least once a week (hopefully more?) about ORG related issues, more causal than having to write an article about it. I will host specific disccusions which will ALWAYS stay on topic. I don't mind lightheartedness at all, but any posts that are off topic will be frowned upon. If you have ideas for discussions, you can post in the Ideas thread. The popularity of this forum will determine the rate at which discussions are posted, meaning, more activity, more to do!
Thanks for reading, I hope this forum can get up and running in no time! I will update these rules as time goes along if I find we need more. Remember to contact me about anything relating to this forum!
