On June 1st, 2006, 18 strangers set off on the adventure of a lifetime. They were shipped off to the isolated Westmann islands which are near Iceland. For over a month and a half, as they learned to live and work with each other, alliances started to form:
"I remember *name* telling me she was the power centre of their alliance ... and now they all want to behead the leader. What do I think? Hell, better then me."
"Apparently, she had proposed a deal with *name* —an alliance of sorts. Besides making me fuming mad, I was really, really delighted that my slave bitch *name* had transferred every vital bit of information to me."
"If I could go back in time and change one thing, it would be to let my original alliance know sooner about the Mole role I was playing."
In these alliances, certain people grew closer than others and true friendships started to form...
"This kills me. *name* is an amazing person and I honestly get along with her more than anyone else on this tribe. But, I mean, I think this is for the best."
"So I trusted you, I caught wind that you didn't trust me, so bye!! and i thought we I had a real friendship going on.
so i really hope that this game can be forgotten and we can play in another one together or something. but that's up to you, i really don't have any hard feelings, it is just a game."
"Sooo, my vote basically came down to choosing a loyalty between you and *name*... and I guess I decided your friendship was more important to me than *name*'s (I know that's kinda sappy, but it's the truth)"
But it wasn't all love and joy in the Westmann islands - bickering and mistrust can show up anytime, anywhere...
"Being a fucking liar trash dirtbag doesn't make you a better player than me. It makes you a bigger liar."
"You're not the glittering Aphrodite heroine that has swept by with her golden wings to seize glory, you douchebag. You just want a door--a backdoor-- out of your bottle of stupid mid-life angst and alleyway of severe inadequancy and uselessness."
"The way you play is completely devoid of compassion or dignity. You just play to kill regardless of the order of the kill. It's alarmingly sociopathic."
Just when they thought that they knew what to expect in this game... they would have a rude awakening:
"So, now I'm in this shitty situation, and am gonna end up destroying a friendship either way. This game is really starting to depress me."
"But someone must go home tonight. It's been the craziest, most depressing and hardest two days in this game. I don't think anyone knows what is going to happen tonight. I could go home. I half expect to."
"It's like, get a clue, I'm not your little mindless newbie to survivor games, so stop acting like you're such a better strategist than I am."
Episodes will begin airing on Tuesday, August 8th... and you'll find out what happens that received these comments:
"WHAT IS GOING ON?! That was probably my first reaction to Survivor: Westmann Islands. [...] I was in absolute shock ... and I thought I'd seen it all in Survivor."
"My oh my, twists and drama and all the like. Holy crap, I totally wasn't expecting something like this!"
